Résumé
This presentation will cover the experience made in Italy about red button services for interactive tv italian Standard (MHP based on Java). Since 2004 Avalpa has developed an open source Datacast server for DSMCC the standard for interactive digital tv in Italy (but also at the base of MHEG the UK standard and HbbTV the new entrant in France and Germany). With regard to MHP application, some building bricks have been release, like a generic information browser called Wizard for the new graphical teletext. The basic idea was that all partied involved in interactive tv, should better share the basics to focus resources and investment in content then in technology to create quickly a critical mass of services for selling the concept to citizens. Now it’s time to continue spreading the voice. TV becomes, in economic downturns like now, the only rest and entertainment medium for the masses. One should create open and share the technologies to give room to more (smart) content.
