Résumé
OpenStack is a collaborative software project designed to create freely available code, badly needed standards, and common ground for the benefit of both cloud providers and cloud users. In the world of private clouds and public clouds there are many commercial and open source solutions. However, because of a gradual move to a low cost generic public cloud, many commercial providers are offering public cloud solutions based on OpenStack. In fact, some of the biggest contributors to the OpenStack project are from commercial cloud vendors. This presentation outlines why the media industry is interested in virtualisation and cloud, the components of OpenStack and a brief description on what is needed to create a private cloud using the OpenStack software.
Biographie
David Butler is a Senior Technologist, working in the Media Network Integration Lab at BBC Research and Development on network technology, storage performance and cloud technology. During his 10 years working at the BBC, he has worked on advanced digital broadcast projects, technologies for wireless production, network infrastructure, storage performance and cloud technologies.
